This is a citizen initiative meant to promote the use of the English language as first foreign language in the developing countries around the world.

As English has become the global language, more and more people are using it. Today, most of the global scientific publications, business knowledge, business deals, global institutions, media and communications are in English. However the use of the English language has unfortunately remained limited in several developing countries, like Tunisia, which are today isolated from the rest of the world because it doesn't speak English.

By speaking mainly French, the majority of the international exchanges of Tunisia are automatically done with France alone while the vast majority of the countries in the world, including France, work and communicate in English. Besides, the Tunisian people’s vision of the world is therefore limited by the influence of the French perspective alone.  Tunisia is therefore dependent on the French translations, publications and economy which is a serious breach to its sovereignty and autonomy.

With English as its first foreign language Tunisia would:

· Have access to the greatest choice of cheap, affordable and most recent scientific publications, best suited to its needs (70% of the scientific publications are in English)

· Have access to the latest developments in business and business knowledge in a global economy based on knowledge and innovation

· Have access to more markets and opportunities from all over the world, and from all over Europe, both for exports and imports enhancing considerably its economical situation

· Attract far more foreign investments and make it possible for business men from all over the world to invest and work in Tunisia

· Have access to the experiences of other emerging economies like India or Brazil, best suited to its problems

· Promote its culture worldwide and have access to all the other cultures of the world

· Be more independent as it builds more even international relations

Furthermore, the use of the English language gives the people of the world the possibility to know each other and communicate together promoting open mindedness,  cultural exchange and world peace.

The goal of this initiative is to promote the use of the English language as 1st foreign language in schools, universities, administrations and businesses.

For an Independent Tunisia

Ceci est une initiative citoyenne dont l’objectif est de promouvoir l’utilisation de la langue Anglaise comme 1ère langue étrangère dans les pays émergeants.

Comme l’Anglais est devenu la langue mondiale, de plus en plus de gens l’utilisent. Ainsi, aujourd’hui, la grande partie des publications scientifiques, du savoir des entreprises, des échanges commerciaux, des institutions mondiales, des médias et des communications sont en Anglais. Malgré tout cela, l’utilisation de la langue Anglaise est restée limitée dans de nombreux pays du tiers monde qui sont aujourd’hui isolés du reste du monde car ils ne parlent pas Anglais.

En parlant surtout français, la majorité des échanges internationaux de la Tunisie sont automatiquement faits avec la France seulement alors que la très grande majorité des pays dans le monde, y compris la France, travaillent et communiquent en anglais. En plus, la vision du monde des tunisiens est ainsi limitée par la seule influence française. La Tunisie reste ainsi dépendante des traductions, des publications et de l’économie françaises ce est une atteinte sérieuse à sa souveraineté et à son autonomie.

Avec l’anglais comme 1ère langue étrangère La Tunisie peut:

· Avoir accès au plus grand choix de publications scientifiques les plus récentes et au meilleur coût (70% des publications scientifiques sont en anglais)

· Avoir accès aux derniers développements en matière de connaissances et actualités des affaires dans une économie mondiale basée sur le savoir et l’innovation

· Avoir accès à plus de marchés et d’opportunités dans le monde entier, et dans toute l’Europe pour les exportations comme pour les importations, améliorant ainsi considérablement ses conditions économiques

· Attirer beaucoup plus d’investissements étrangers et donner la possibilité aux hommes d’affaires du monde entier d’investir et de travailler en Tunisie

· Avoir accès aux expériences de pays émergeants comme l’Inde ou le Brésil qui sont mieux adaptées à ses besoins

· Promouvoir sa culture et avoir accès à toutes les autres cultures du monde

· Etre plus indépendante en construisant des relations internationales plus équilibrées

Par ailleurs, l’utilisation de la langue anglaise donne à tous les peoples du monde la possibilité de se connaitre et de communiquer promouvant ainsi l’ouverture d’esprit, les échanges culturels et la paix dans le monde.

L’objectif de cette initiative est de promouvoir l’utilisation de la langue anglaise comme 1ère langue étrangère dans les écoles, les universités, les administrations et les entreprises.
