Open letter to the French government (extracts) è The full version is on our website Considering the importance of the English Language upholds today […], it becomes urgent and necessary for the countries [mainly situated in West Africa to implement it ...] we are writing to you today […]. I am sure that you share with me the view that this situation is harmful not only to all those countries but to France and neighbouring countries as well […]. I am sure that, you share with me [as well] the belief that these countries are sovereign, free and independent, that the relations between countries should be based on [mutual consent and benefit in a good and positive spirit], that the former periods of “colonization” were illegitimate, unjust and negative because of the extortion of the sovereignty and history of those people, the destruction of their cultures, the looting of their lands besides the injustices and losses they endured. I am sure then […] that you will join me in rejecting all policies and practices, legal or illegal, public or secret meant to prevent any of those countries from […] making English their 1st foreign language or [to impose by force the teaching or use of any other language] on their governments or to prevent their citizens from using or supporting the use of English […] by utilizing their [body of state].

This is a citizen initiative meant to promote the use of the English language as first foreign language in the developing countries around the world as it became a necessary prerequisite and as well as an easy and fast means for development and international integration. As English has become the global language, several developing countries were cut from the rest of the world because they don’t speak English. Without this language barrier, much more economic development and diversified international relations can be accomplished in those countries, which can only be beneficial to everybody including France. This is not a threat to the French language which is and will be studied throughout the world thanks to the appeal of the French culture. With English as 1st foreign language, these countries could have access to more Science and technology, Markets and opportunities, Foreign investments, Jobs and Skilled Jobs, Media and Diverse perspectives on the news, Experiences of other emerging economies, Cultures and promote their cultures worldwide, more Independence as they diversify their international relations. Furthermore, the use of the English language gives all people of the world the possibility to know each other and communicate together promoting open mindedness, cultural exchanges and world peace. The goal is using English in schools, universites, media and businesses. Support our cause to help those countries ! |
