In developed countries, some people do not agree on foreign investments being the best way for development in the developing world, because they think the jobs created are a form of profiteering but being myself from a developing country, I know the value of the foreign investments and the jobs that they may bring. For the poor populations in those countries it is that or nothing ! Besides nobody forces them to accept the jobs and labour unions do exist although they might be better and the legislation and benefits of workers could be better as well ... but it is in part related to a wider set of political issues like the lack of democracy and rule of law in the developing countries ... Besides, foreign investment is a major economic instrument that enables the transfer and dissemination of knowledge, technology and skills Using the English language allows to train more skilled workforce anyway and allows local businesses to be more competitive and to be able to have more markets for exports so from the perspective of our initiative both multi lateral development and local development profit from the use of the English language. Although, local development and multi lateral development are in my opinion not contradictory and may very well be complimentary. In all cases, foreign investments and local development could be both used by developing countries to continue their development.
