We do support the diversity of national and native languages in Europe and all over the world and we believe that diversity is a wealth for us all. Besides, we believe as well that English being a common international language is a great opportunity, an additional wealth and a necessary and essential commodity for all humankind. This is not contradictory with the diversity of national and native languages. It is unfair for the developing countries to remain cut out from the rest of the world and cut out from other people as they don't speak English. Help us connect them to the rest of the world ! Multilinguism : Besides the national language(s) and the English language as 1s foreign language we favour additional language teaching as multiple choice 2nd foreign languages to increase even more the connections between different people. This is what all European countries do, they speak English as 1st foreign language and then they offer their people the choice for additional languages which is a sensible course of action. Although, beware that multilinguism may be used by some parties to deceive the African people and maintain a status quo in their countries preventing them from speaking English as 1st foreign language. Being able to work, study and communicate in English has become a basic skill and those who cannot do it are handicapped, isolated and disadvantaged when compared to other people. Because of all the reasons listed in our front page and because the whole world speaks English, which has become the international language, the language of science, higher education, business and international media, speaking any other language as 1st foreign language offers much less opportunities than English and would maintain that country in a state of isolation and underdevelopment. Furthermore, it may involve a state of dependency to a specific country which is a threat to its language, identity and culture beside being a major injustice.
